Life Inside The Mohits Mansion

Don’t be fooled – It’s not even a mansion!

Deep inside your minds, you picture D’Banj living in a paradise of sorts, with remote-controlled sofas, bikini-clad waitresses, Gordon Ramsay-like chefs, Olympic-sized swimming pool, convertible B&O screens and some decor machinery that gives the entire house the feel of Don Jazzy’s beats and D’Banj’s charm?

Nah, the Maryland property D’Banj calls home is not anything close to what you’d expect. Definitely not a mansion; and not the type of celeb crib that make your eyes wanna jump out of their sockets – you know the kind you see on MTV cribs? Nah!

The Mohits duplex houses D’Banj, Don Jazzy, D’prince, Kayswitch, Dr SID and Wande Coal; with regular overnight/long time guests including Ikechukwu, Special ED, Sauce Kid and others.

Situated in a private estate behind Planet One Entertainment, in Maryland, Lagos, the Mohits property is referred to, by those who’ve been there, as a ‘hostel’ of sorts.

As you drive into the street, you already have an idea this is the home for the boys – what with the cars of Ikechukwu, Special ED, Sauce Kid and others parked outside.

The uniformed security guard gives you a plain sheet to write your name on, requesting you indicate who you’re seeing and your purpose. He locks you out as he goes in to confirm if you should be allowed in or not.

Once in, the first thing you notice is the set of diesel generators and a water tank, all competing for the little space in the compound. Don’t mind the diesel spills on the floor – everyone uses diesel in Lagos!

A security door leads you in, and after a set of mini stairs, you see the large living room to the right. This is where most visitors to the Mohits home end up. Here, you’re faced with a large portrait painting of D’Banj, as well as a dozen plaques arranged on a TV stand. There’s sparse furnishing downstairs, plenty of space, and queer painting.

But upstairs, the parlour is smaller, and functions more like a waiting room. The guys sleep upstairs, as well as work when necessary. An entire room functions as Don Jazzy’s studio – here is where most of the award-winning hits are baked. And just seconds away is D’Banj’s room. Inside D’Banj’s bedroom, there’s a painting of him on the wall, as well as one where his parents appear to be praying for him. His bed is queerly-shaped – almost circular – and coloured red! We’re unsure how many rooms are in the house, But Don Jazzy, D’Prince and Wande Coal are also believed to have their rooms upstairs.

With assistants and guards running around to get stuff done, and guests thronging in by the minute, it’s a busy atmosphere, all day, all week inside the choked apartment.

‘D’Banj spends a lot of time in his room, you don’t even know when he has guests or not. And not everyone is allowed to enter his room. He likes to be very coded’ a Mohits aide told us. ‘Infact you can’t even get upstairs except you’re a very important visitor or you’re close to the house’.

A Mohits worker tells us it’s deliberate to have everyone living together. ‘We’ve work together, live together, play together. That’s the idea. If Wande has an idea at 1AM, we can quickly rush to do studio and put it down. We’re a close-knit team and we like it like that. You know very much, that everyone of us can afford our own houses. And we all have different properties in different parts of Lagos. But no matter what, there’ll still be a general place for us to call home’.

There are rumours D’Banj has properties in his native Ogun state, and in Lekki, on the outskirts of Lagos. But nothing has been confirmed.

And, opinions are divided on why a set of young men who claim to earn dozens of millions per week would continue to live together in a property that can barely contain them and their guests. ‘It’s either they don’t earn as much as they claim, or they just don’t care. But if I were half as big as D’Banj or Wande, I wouldn’t live in a place like that’ an artiste who has spent nights in the house told us.

What we think? Aint nothing wrong with a bunch of bachelors cohabiting. It’s worked for them well so far – so why change a winning formular? In a matter of years, the wedding bells will start ringing. When D’Banj or Don Jazzy say ‘I Do’, then we’ll know it’s time for the boys of the Mohits mansion to get moving…

Banky W, Eldee Boycott Goodluck Jonathan Concert

As the ‘pro’ and ‘anti’ ‘Goodluck Jonathan for President’ arguments are still heating up amongst young Nigerians, more and more celebrities regardless of what their fans think or say, are still submitting their hearts on Jonathan’s desk. But a few others are doing everything possible to avoid getting listed on Mr. President’s payroll.

Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) boss, Bankole Wellington otherwise known as Banky W yesterday announced that he would not be present at the Goodluck Jonathan concert scheduled to hold on Friday, March 25, 2011 in Abuja.

Banky took to his Twitter account on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 to inform his followers that he would be committing himself to the ‘What About Us‘ cause; a movement formed by respected youths to engage on public platforms, men and women aspiring to occupy government offices come April 2011 on their plans for the Nigerian youth.

4 the record I WILL NOT be performing @ the GEJ Concert in Abj on the 25th. I’ll be at d what about us debate‘, Banky W tweeted from his personal handle (@bankyw).

Similarly, producer-entertainer Lanre Dabiri popularly known as eLDee clearly disassociated himself from the Goodluck Jonathan campaign family on his Facebook page the same day as Banky W did.

Eldee who has been very involved with several advocacy groups wrote, in a note published on his Facebook account, that himself and a couple of other artistes including D’banj, Tuface, M.I, P Square, Banky W, Duncan Mighty, Wizkid had earlier scheduled a similar concert tagged ‘Our Time’ to sensitize the youths on the need to vote and most importantly guard their votes.

According to the hip-hop star, the TV commercial shot for the ‘Our Time’ concert was altered and paraded as ‘Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Presidential Campaign Concert’. This was followed up with a full-page newspaper advert in the ‘Vanguard’ newspaper of Tuesday, March 22, 2011, displaying his picture and other aforementioned artistes as headliners.

Now I was being touted as a representative of the youth in support of the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan presidential campaign. What’s even more interesting is that Silverbird TV ran this new advert before and after the Dbanj interview with Goodluck Jonathan, as if it were part and parcel of that GEJ campaign initiative’. eLDee wrote.

I have never, and even more so now will never be a part of any campaign for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, therefore please do not expect me to be at the supposed concert’.

There are speculations MI and Wizkid are also planning to shun the controversial concert. But we cannot confirm this for now

JIM IYKE, YVONNE NELSON, NICOLETTA SAMOANS GO NAKED FOR MORE THAN TWO MINUTE IN A NEW MOVIE

Issues relating to nudity in movies have over the years stoked controversies as to its propriety or otherwise and whether or not it is real.

Do you remember “Heart of Men””4 Play “Hot Fork” and obsession? Well, I sat behind my laptop to watch a new movie featuring Yvonne Nelson, Jim Iyke, Nicoletta Samoans who is popularly known as Niki, going naked for more than 2 minutes showing all she has got in the name of movie making.

Initially, I thought it was one of what film makers term as camera tricks and so I requested the unedited version of the movie from the producer so I could have a sample viewing for better deduction and analysis but the producer declined showing it to me, Luckily, I met a good Samaritan who gave me the opportunity to see the full version of the actress going fully naked without any cover.

According to an eye witness who was on the set, it was stated in the script for the movie in question that , that scene be taken, with an actress going naked and Niki Insisted that she would do it.

Many who have had the opportunity to watch the video say they have seen some upcoming movies whose nude scenes would Dwarf what Niki has done in the new movie.

The video will be Uploaded on Nigeriafilms.com and other top site soon for viewers to have a look at the direction that the movie industry is veering into.

Many of her fans ware asking how much she was paid to show her private parts to the whole world without any feeling of remorse of whatsoever, ownership of the movie is still not known.

Man with 86 wives to sue INEC

The celebrated polygamist, Pa Abubakar Masaba, is heading for a showdown with the Independent National Electoral Commission and the police following allegations that members of his family, numbering over 5,000 were denied registration by suspected thugs in the just concluded voter registration exercise.

Our correspondent gathered that suspected thugs allegedly thwarted efforts by members of the Masaba’s family to participate in the voter registration exercise at a registration unit in Bida Local Government Area of the state.

Masaba is reported to have 86 wives.

It was learnt that the thugs specifically prevented INEC officials from registering the Masaba family and that security operatives allegedly refused to come to his rescue.

The lawyer to the family, Mr. Shehu Jubril, told our correspondent in Minna, Niger State, that over 10 hoodlums frustrated efforts of the Masabas to register.

He alleged that the thugs, led by one Gimba, created pandemonium in a registration unit close to Masaba’s residence as they stormed the area beating and wounding members of the family who had queued up to register.

He said the hoodlums overpowered officials of INEC and prevented them from registering Masaba’s family members.

He claimed that about nine members of the family were wounded by the attackers, lamenting that despite complaints lodged by Masaba to the police area commander, nobody was arrested in connection with the incident.

He accused the police of connivance and said Masaba had concluded plans to seek redress in court.

He said the development amounted to a breach of fundamental human rights and assault.

“The recent interview granted by the area commander in a local newspaper has however indicated that police have taken sides on the matter as he went on saying that the family has no business registering at their own Masaba ‘A’ polling unit”, he said.

When our correspondent contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Richard Oguche, he said he was yet to receive the report.

He said the district police officers would brief the command on developments in their various areas on Monday (today).

Also, INEC state Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Abdulmalik Wase, claimed ignorance of the development and said he knew nothing about Masaba and his family.

FOR elderly fans of the Nigerian King of Comedy, Ali Baba, who are aged 70 and above wishing to have him compere at their functions, they should better start booking the comedian for their birthday celebrations as his price has gone 50 per cent down. This is coming as a fulfillment he made to his father's request to cut down on his performance fee in order to afford the low in the society a chance to feel him. Chief Alfred Akpophiohwobo Akporobome , the OTOTA R'OVIE OF AGBARHA KINGDOM, UGHELLI, DELTA STATE , amiable father of the talented and creative King of Comedy, is happy that after five years , his son has yielded to his wish. Ali Baba told Trend'tainment that “ when my father turned 75 years four years ago , he told me specifically what he wanted as gift for his birthday was for me to give a 50 per cent discount on my fees for clients above 70 years,” he said but when asked why it took him four years to accede to his father's request , Ali replied “I was waiting for the 6000 mega watts promised by the Federal Government but on a more serious note, It should have started since August which was his birthday, but I was waiting for the Muslims to celebrates Sallah” he concluded .

Pa Akporobome will be 80 next year and upon asking his father recently what he would want for his 80th birthday , the old man responded “ the small discount I asked you to give , u no fit, it's the one that has not come you are planning for? Go Siddon.” That irked Ali Baba to place a discount on his fees.

So from this October , 2009 Ali Baba has agreed to extend a matching age discount for elder statesmen and it goes like this : 70 years ( 70 per cent Discount), 75 years (75 per cent discount), and so on.
